Creativity
is an important part of human growth. If none of us had any
creativity, then we would all be carbon copies of each other.
We would do and say the same things and think in the same
ways.
It
is the creative component that makes some of us writers, while
others are artists, musicians or have other talents. Creative
thoughts allow free thinking and new ideas. If there was no
creativity, there would be no new inventions. Imagine a world
without any of the modern discoveries. There would be no cars,
no light bulbs and no computers! Creativity is what makes
life interesting.
Each
person is brought up in a different way, so we each have different
types of creativity. The personalities of human beings are
shaped and defined quite a bit in early childhood. The earlier
that you start to teach a child to be creative, the better
the results will be. One of the easiest ways to do that is
through the use of toys.
Building Blocks:
Building
blocks, such as Legos
are fun for a child. Blocks allow children to build castles,
buildings or whatever they want, whenever the mood strikes
them.
Building
blocks are not just great for physical use though. They are
also excellent building blocks for the brain. They teach a
child how shapes and sizes fit together to make something
different, which teaches them, later in life, to approach
problems from many different angles and see how the pieces
fit.
To
add an extra dimension to things, you can give your child
colorful blocks or blocks with pictures, numbers or letters
on them. At that point, you'd not only be inspiring imagination,
but also teaching children to count or learn their letters
at the same time.
Artistic Toys:
While
some toys inspire more logical thinking about how shapes and
colors go together, some toys are purely artistic, putting
no limits on a child's imagination.
Toys
such as Etch-A-Sketch
and Magnadoodle
are the modern versions of coloring books. They allow kids
to draw anything they want, whenever they like.
While
traditional paints, coloring
books and crayons still have their place, an Etch-A-Sketch
is much easier to use in a plane or on a long car ride, so
children are no longer limited by space and movement constraints.
Musical Toys:
Music
is a very important part of society. Not only is music fun,
but it also keeps our minds constantly moving. Therefore,
toy
musical instruments and other musical
toys are a great way to keep your child entertained while
also inspiring their creativity.
There
are many musical toys to choose from. In most cases you really
cannot go wrong with a musical toy. However, when buying musical
toys, remember who has to listen to them.
Small
children, as well as family pets, can easily be afraid of
loud noises. Also, adults can easily get tired of constant
loud noise. Therefore, it's important to select fun musical
toys that have volume controls, as well as on/off switches.
Be Attentive:
As
adults, we get more satisfaction from our accomplishments
when other people acknowledge them. Children are no different.
No matter how you choose to inspire creativity, be sure that
you pay attention to what your child builds, draws and does.
Show them that you appreciate their efforts and they will
enjoy being creative.
